Jose started playing drums back in 1980, attended Musicians Institute in 1990 and studied with Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey, Casey Scheuerell, Matt Laug, Dave Beyer, Chuck Flores and Efrain Toro. At graduation he was awarded the “Best Hand Technique Award” sponsored by Sabian Cymbals. In 1993 he started working with Ednita Nazario.

One of his main projects is Odd John Hawkins, a fusion / prog / jam band with influences as varied as King Crimson, Grateful Dead, Phish and many others. Jose joined the band in time to record their second album Detective and with them had the oportunity to perform as a pre concert party band for artists such as Steve Vai and Sons of Apollo. As 2018 comes to an end the band has recorded new material to be included on the band’s third album. A few tracks will be available for free on different platforms. His other pet project Vy – With Odd John Hawkins guitarist feature 3 records of heavy experimental music. Vy Vol 1, Vy Vol 2 and Vy Vol 3. In 2019 another record is on the works

Broky On Band (B.O.B) (Ringo Starr Opening Act in Puerto Rico)

In 2013 Jose started teaching at Conservatorio de Artes del Caribe, one of the only 19 music schools in the world that are members of the Berklee College of Music International Network.

Jose has been working with Ednita Nazario  for over 20 years now. In 2017 he played with her the 17 show at the Coliseo de PR making her the artist with the biggest amount of shows performed on that venue. Toping artists as big as Ricky Martin. 2019 will be the year of a new album and tour with a new show at the Coliseo de PR in May 2019

In 2015  record a new DVD set at the Performing Arts Center in Santurce.

Since 2001 all of her 9 albums (studio and live) have reached the Number 1 spot on the Billboard Latin Pop Charts. He has recorded 4 live albums:
